Good morning and happy Wednesday!
This time of year we go out of our way to make sure we are being thankful. Don’t get me wrong, the yearly reminder is great and welcome, but I want to take a look at what having true daily gratitude looks like.
Paul writes in his letter to Corinth, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not for nothing. In fact, I worked harder than all of them, though it was not really I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:10) Paul understood what he had been given by God, the chance to turn his life around and follow the right path. He had a constant reminder of what he should be thankful for because it was literally his daily life!
What have you been given by the grace of God? A skill, a job, a family, a home? All of the above?
I’m afraid this message comes with homework! Choose one thing in your life that you know without a doubt you would not have if it weren’t for God, and say this prayer every day:
Father God, I know that you have blessed me with __________. Thank you. Today I will do my best with this amazing gift! Amen.
Start with a week, say this prayer of thanksgiving for a week, and see how you feel. Then go for another week. And then another. I’ve been told it takes 66 days to form a habit and that puts us around the 3rd week in January. So I’ll check back in then 😊 You’ll be surprised how different your life can be if you genuinely start each day with gratitude!
Thank you, each and every one of you, I’m grateful every day that God gave me this church family!
