Thank God

“I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me:

God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me,

God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me,

God’s word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me,

God’s way to lie before me, God’s shield to protect me.”

St. Patrick, 5th century

Paraphrasing the words of this Patron Saint of Ireland, we have a lot to be thankful for.

Thank God – that we are alive today.

Thank God – for His guiding will and direction in our earthly lives.

Thank God – for the vision to see beyond the apparent.

Thank God – for being able to hear God’s voice speak.

Thank God – for His word that can form and come from our mouths.

Thank God – for His protection from peril and evil.

Thank God – for His presence that is ever before us.

Thank God – for the shield of faith to always be our defense.

We have a lot to be thankful for. As you carve the turkey, or ham or maybe a chicken and go back to get a second helping of your favorite dish, let’s remember what to be truly thankful for.

Thank you, St. Patrick, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
