The Rewards of Giving

We all know there are rewards for giving, but they may not always clear to us. The Bible, however, has many examples that shed light on the true benefits derived from giving. In verses throughout the Bible, we are shown that our giving multiplies our gifts, can bring us happiness, and returns to us in many ways.
In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 the Bible says “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap
sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Also, in 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 God tells us “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”
The happiness brought to us by giving is shown in 2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”. Sometimes, we get worried that if we give some money here, or volunteer time there, that we won’t have time or money for something else. This verse is encouraging you to embrace—it’s okay! God placed you in this moment in time, he presented you with this opportunity, he asked you to give in this very situation, and if it’s something that you feel called to, then enthusiastically say “yes”, and don’t look back. Be happy.
In 2 Corinthians 9:11 the Bible says “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” God promises that the more generous your are, the more you’ll be given so that you can keep on giving. He doesn’t promise that generosity will make you rich, no, he just promises that if he can trust you as a generous steward of his gifts, he’ll just give you more gifts to steward for others. Don’t you just want to be used by God like that? I sure do.
