Christ in Prophecy
It’s coming!
“The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
“Every valley shall be made low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
“And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 40:3-5 (KJV)
Hello, Church family!
Advent is coming. In fact, “Advent” means “coming.” This Sunday, we begin a new liturgical year in the church. You will see an Advent wreath. Circles stand for the Lord where there is no beginning and no end…the Alpha and the Omega. Candles will light the word of the Lord to us and continue to illumine our worship experience in remembrance of that word. Different families will come to light the candles each week in preparation for worship. Our Chrismon tree stands tall and majestic with many beautiful Chrismons. Each symbol tells the story of Christ and Christmas. The many evergreens represent the creation of God that is ever alive. And the royal color of blue paraments will adorn our communion table, pulpit, acolytes and minister for the season.
The songs will be our Christmas favorites. The messages will be on the Men in the Christmas Story. You will hear of Zechariah, John, Joseph, and Jesus. The Choir will be presenting special music and the kids will even join us for a special. The Sunday before Christmas we will have a Service of Lessons and Carols for the entire congregation. And remember, we have a Children’s Christmas program on December 15th at 6:00, a Live Nativity outside on December 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 and Christmas Eve Communion, Carols and Candlelight from 6:00 – 7:00.
Prepare your heart to receive Him. Look forward to His coming. As you prepare your homes and meals and gifts for Christmas; remember to put out your Mangers, plan to break bread at the Lord’s Table on Christmas Eve and give the gift of your life to Christ.
It’s coming!
See you in Church!
